Identity crisis, new patterns & name winner

We have had a busy couple of days, heads down writing new patterns for release.  So we are really excited to be able to announce 6 new patterns that are now available in the Melly & me range!!  One of the new patterns has a funny story attached that I just have to share with you all.  

Some time ago I posted a picture of a new little creature along with a post and gave no introduction.  In my head I had made a bird that I liked to call "Tweet" but within days there were comments and emails from people about how much they loved the owl!!  My poor Tweet developed a real identity crisis!  Over the next few weeks I decided to give "Tweet" a bit of a facelift to make him look more owlish, renamed him "Hooty", and hoped that he would feel like the owl everyone thought he was.  After that I made him a few friends and took them along to the Hills Festival.  Would you believe that everyone who commented on them said "I love the little birds"!!!!!  Poor little fellas, they could never win.  In the end I decided to make two different designs for the pattern and called them "Hooty & Tweet".  I will let you decide which is which as by now I am so confused!!

Rosie has released this gorgeous "Messenger Birdies" pattern.  The birdies have their own crocheted nests and are perfect gifts with a little message tag tied around their necks - just too cute!

And this stunning new quilt called "Billie"!  She has made this up in a few different colour ways and it is so yummy.

As well as these 3 new patterns we have also released the already featured "Silly Bunny & Silly Bunny", "Clancy & Clatabel" and drum roll........"Freya"!!!  

Yes, Caitlin was the winner of the naming contest and I will email you soon to find out where to send your pattern.  Your explanation of the name just fit her perfectly and I am so happy with this name.  It was a tough choice as a few of the names were really standing out and I want to thank you all so much for your suggestions.

Working up a storm & another giveaway.

I have just flown back from a wonderful weekend of teaching in Hobart with my good friend Leanne.  We were asked by Derdre and Leonie of The Quilted Crow to come and teach at their autumn gathering.  We had such a beautiful time meeting fantastic ladies and staying in the most wonderful accommodation.  Derdre and Leonie spoiled us rotten!  If you are ever in Hobart you just have to visit them. 

Derdre's daughter Casey makes the most amazing softies - she gave me one and I am thrilled!  Somehow we need to get her onto etsy so you can all enjoy her work.  Here he is, I have named him "Sebatstian"  I adore him!!  - Rosie

After a bit of a creative hiatus, I have my mo-jo back!  I would love to introduce you to today's new creation - my new funky fairy.  I may have my sewing mo-jo back but my naming brain just isn't working!  I would love it if you could help me with a name, please??!!  Sounds like a good excuse for a giveaway, so please leave your name ideas and the winner will be sent out a free copy of the pattern - Melly.

I realised I have been a bit silly because I have sold all my silly bunnies and I haven't written a pattern yet!!! By popular request I have decided to make my beloved silly bunnies into a pattern.

So... I have spent the last two days making five of them. Two for the pattern sample, two for sale on etsy and one for a give-away.  Anyone who leaves a comment on todays post will be in the running to win this cutie-pie.   

Two runners up will recieve the new "Silly Bunny" pattern.  People who also leave a name suggestion for Melly's funky fairy will be in the running to win these giveaways.  We will draw the winners next Tuesday - Rosie.

P.S  Melly and I are toying with the idea of going to the Fall Quilt Market in Houston, Texas with our patterns.  How exciting!!

Scrappy Update

We decided a "scrappy cabin challenge" update was due as we are dying to know who has joined the challenge, how you are all going, how much you love your scrappy cabin blocks etc, etc, etc.......

Here are a few more "Melly & me" scrappy cabin blocks that have been born over the past couple of weeks.

We have a number of members over at the flickr group who have been sharing their pictures and thoughts which has been fabulous!  Some of the girls have given their OK to share their progress so here are a few great blocks to get you inspired and motivated.

How are the rest of you going?  If you have had any progress we would love to see the photos and hopefully share your handiwork with everyone.  We can't wait for the day that we can all show off our finished quilts! 

For those of you who wrote to us wanting to join the fun, but felt that the idea of a quilt was just too daunting, we have come up with some smaller projects ideas.  Here is a picture of a cute little pincushion that can be made so easily by adding some polyester toy-fill and a couple of cute vintage buttons. 

Some other great suggestions are sewing together 9 or more blocks to create a cushion front, or the idea that I intend to try in the next few weeks - sewing 6 together to create a dolly quilt top.  These are all great ways to use up your scraps to create gorgeous finished products.

We would love to hear how you are all progressing, any further ideas and any feedback in general.  Keep those scrappy cabin blocks coming and don't forget it is never too late to join!  May the floss be with you all,  Melly & Rosie

Hills Festival

We had a great day today meeting old friends and making new at the Hills Festival in the Dangenong Ranges.  It was a perfect autumn day and some of our handiwork managed to find fabulous new homes.  We spent a large chunk of last week whipping up some new items to sell at the craft market including these gorgeous hand printed cards that Rosie made. 

The etsy store has been looking pretty bare lately so we have added some of these great cards as well as a number of other cute items that were left at the end of the day.

You may even notice some scrappy cabin blocks being used in there..... but more on that in our next post.  Until then, enjoy your weekend as much as we are. - Melly & Rosie

Happy Easter & Giveaway!!

We would like to wish you all a very, very flossy Easter.  We hope that you are all surrounded by the ones you love, having a restful and joyful holiday.

I also want to thank you all for your sweet messages and encouragement to release Baby Floss' quilt as a pattern. 

As a result we are very excited to have released these three new patterns (Black Forest, Baby Floss and Wally & Wristy) this week, with a few more soon to follow!!

On a roll...

While Rosie was off having fun with all you girls in Yarragon on the weekend I did manage to finish another WIP!!!  Yippee!

Now I am madly trying to write some patterns to be hopefully released within the next week.......I smell a giveaway coming!  Make sure you watch this space. - Melly
