Winners aplenty and scrappy swaps!

It was decided yesterday, after a frizzled phone conversation, that the draw was to be delayed a day.  Sorry to all of you who have been checking back to see if you were a lucky winner.  The winners of the random draw are.......

Miss Marzie, Donna and Lisa Rothen.  However, we were so excited to get over 100 comments for the first time ever and have decided to give the lucky 100th commenter her choice of pattern also.  That is you Jane Weston!  Congratulations to the four of you.  Please email us with your postal details and your choice of pattern.

Due to Rosie's stuff up email mix-ups we were both lucky enough to have two swap partners each for the scrap swap.  Here is what Rosie received from Marianne this week100_1149

She was so generous making a beautiful bag and knitting a gorgeous pink face washer.  Her cards are out of this world and of course the scraps are divine!  We are slightly ashamed of our photography here, as when you look at Marianne's blog you will notice that her pictures are indeed perfect.

Melly also received her second swap package this week from Lori.  As well as the cute little extra gifts, It was so fantastic to be given fabrics that we have never seen before.  Each one is new to us and it will definitely add spice to Melly's scrappy cabin blocks.  Thank you both very much!!  By the way, wondering if we can change that scrappy cabin quilt deadline to December 2020????!!100_1151

Denyse Schmidt fabric!!

We went for a trip to one of our favourite patchwork shops the other day, Patchwork on Central Park.  We were like kids in a candy shop when our eyes fell upon the latest range by Denyse Schmidt called "Katie Jump Rope".  Like Denyse's last range we knew that this fabric needed to be used for some new designing.  The owner of Patchwork on Central Park, Lynn Clay, generously gave us some sampling of the entire range!!!  She is so good to us and her support is priceless.

Now we have so much goodness to play with and you will hopefully see signs of it here soon!  If you live in Melbourne and you haven't already visited Lynn's shop we can highly recommend it.Events_004_4

We will be drawing the winners of our giveaway tomorrow so if you haven't already, make sure you leave a comment of our previous post to be in the running!   - Rosie & Melly

Swaps, Sewing, Patterns & Giveaways!

Thank you to all of you who are leaving comments and sending emails about your scrappy swaps!  It sounds like you are all having such a ball and we love seeing all the little extras that people have sent in their parcels!  Here is Rosies beautiful swap parcel that she received this week from Janelle.  She is so thrilled with her gorgeous scraps and extra treat and has had so much fun.  Forrosie_3

Also this week we have been continuing to get that big order ready for "Wild Jam" in Melbourne.  Here is a pic of the five Freyas that came to life this week as a result...000_0527

And the best news of all is that we have written the patterns for our three new designs!!   Mad Cow, Buzby & Baby Bee and Lottie & Little Lady are now available!

000_0526You do know what that means, don't you??  It's celebration time - It's GIVEAWAY TIME!!!

Make sure you leave a comment on this post or send us an email and on Wednesday we will draw the names of three people who will win their choice of one of the new patterns.

Scrappy swap received!

Yesterday in the mail I received my first scrappy swap package from Net!!  It nearly killed me but I had to wait until my husband returned home at 9:30pm with the camera to open my treats as I wanted a photo of the cute packaging!! I had this staring at me all afternoon and night just begging to be opened!100_1097_2

So once the man was home it was a quick snap shot and the opening began!!  Inside was the most beautiful, neat and organised pile of scraps!  Net had trimmed and ironed all of the scraps and I had a quick think about my scraps that I had placed in her package.  Sorry Net - not nearly as neat and tidy!! 100_1100

It was so much fun going through all of the scraps and seeing pieces of yummy fabric that I have never laid eyes on before!  I am very keen to use some of them right away.   And just look at the gorgeous little extra treats that Net enclosed!  The cutest little buttons - one which is handmade with felt and is simply adorable!!!  I love it all Net - thanks so much!

I hope some more of you are starting to get your scrappy packages in the mail - what fun it is!! - Melly

Nerves turn to productivity

We have had a busy weekend, furiously sewing together a few new designs. I have wanted to make a bee and a lady bug for ages and this was a good opportunity (more designs needed for Houston). After spending a whole week with no inspiration, two new designs just seemed to make themselves! I love being in the zone. I'm sure that some of you can relate to this. First you feel incapable of creating anything new- EVER and then all of a sudden the light-bulb moment and then new designs. This is always the process for me. Here is Buzby and baby bee100_1092......

And her100_1093e is Lottie and Little Lady....

Here is a close up of "Baby Bee and Little Lady" who agreed to leave the warmth of their satchels for our photo shoot..100_1094

Melly has also been a busy bee making her "Mad Cow".  She made one for the pattern...

And two more for our Etsy Store.....100_1089

Of course all of this activity means we have 3 new patterns to write (sigh).  We will do another pattern giveaway when they are completed.

I hope everyone got their fabric scrap packages posted (I promise I will send mine tomorrow!!) and we cant wait to show you our mail when it arrives.

May the Floss be with you! - Rosie

Excitement turns to nerves

Thank you so much to everyone for your congratulations and wishes of success for the International Quilt Market!  Our initial delight has now turned into nerves.  We have four months to go until we will pack our bags for Texas and boy, how much preparation needs to be done before then?!  And of course there is the anxiety about whether it will be a success - Can we make an attractive enough stand? Do we have enough designs? Will we stand out enough? Will there be interest? Can we do it!!??

We are, however, feeling a great deal more excited and hopeful this afternoon after Rosie came up with the most ingenious idea for our backdrop and display - I hope we can share it with you at some point down the track - it is going to be oh so very cute!

100_1083_2To keep myself distracted and to help the "Texas fund raising effort" I have spent the last few days working on these little fellas who had been intended for the etsy store.  Today though, we had a phone call from a delightful shop owner who wanted to order some of our toys for her fabulous store.  Amongst other items, part of her order just so happened to be for Mad Mozzies and Little Kitties so some of the work has already been done!  How very convenient!

Now to get the rest of this order whipped up while we are both bursting with new design ideas that we hope to find time to create!!!

I really hope that you will be seeing lots of great new designs here in the next few weeks.  Fingers crossed!  - Melly

Im back!!

Although I missed my sewing machine oh so very much, I have had the most fabulous 7 nights away with the family.  The sun, beach, shopping, giggles and of course a great deal of eating were the highlights!  But back home to cold Melbourne we had to come and even though we had such a fabulous time it is also nice to come back to our home, loved ones and of course my sewing machine!100_0989

I just had to take along Minkey, my beautiful little monkey from Julie and she had so much fun at the beach!

Little floss (4 years) also tried his hand at photography while we were away and here is his best shot of his little sister, Baby Floss.100_1022

After wearing himself out with photography he felt it was time for a fairy floss moustache - very suave!!

100_1069

While I was away, Rosie did some sewing for the etsy store.   She adapted the Scrappy Cabin pattern to make these lovely mobile phone pockets.100_1072

Anyway, off to the well rested sewing machine now - I'm itching! - Melly

The good news!!!

I had my first of five annual checkups this week. Today I received the ALL CLEAR from my surgeon! I went around to celebrate with Leanne. We tried to take a lovely photo of the event but they were all very scary and we opted for a "happy" photo of our Tassie teaching adventures (believe me, we did you a huge favour!) Stay tuned for a crafty update upon Melly's return! (couldn't come soon enough) I seriously was looking for the foot pedal when I sat down to the computer to do this post!

Its swap time!

100_0673_00_2 YAY! Swap time has arrived!  This event should greatly spice up your scrappy cabin quilts!  Everyone who has registered for our swap will be notified by email today with their swap partners email address.  Please email your partner for postal details.  Here are a few more guidelines and answers to your questions.

* Fabric scraps should be 100% cotton or linen.

* You should include 250gm (1/2 pound) of fabric scraps packaged in any way you would like. (Brown paper lunch bags not as universal as we thought!)

* Scraps can be as small as you like as long as they are usable for the scrappy cabin challenge.  Scraps should be no bigger than approximately 10" x 10".

* All swap packages are to be sent on or before the 15th of June.  Please let your partner know when you have posted your package.

* If for some reason you are no longer able to participate, please email us so that we can ensure no one misses out.

* If you feel you would like to enclose an extra treat for your partner feel free though this is not a requirement of the swap.  A card would also be a lovely touch!  Who knows you may make a swapping buddy or penpal for life!

* For those of you who have missed out, we will repeat this swap if it is successful.

* HAVE FUN!!

In other news... Our beautifully talented, fabulously artistic Aunty Yda has updated her website.  Her site is basically a gallery of her work.  We both fell in love with her new collages and particularly loved this one, "Design van de straat".  We have added her to our favourites and suggest you have a visit.Collages202007220001_4

The technical half of the "Melly & me" partnership is going on holidays for a week.  The technophobe half will attempt a post at some point during this week. (There are no prizes for guessing who is who!!)  If there is no new post, rest assured that we will make up for it on my return - Melly.
