"Back to our roots"

483080415_71af70631c_m_6 We're from Holland, isn't that weird??!! (pardon the Gold Member reference - LOL!)

We have decided to extend our Houston experience by travelling to Holland as soon as the show finishes.  That way if Houston is a complete flop for us we still have a wonderful trip to see our relatives to look forward to!  We have been corresponding with our fabulous Aunty Yda about our visit and are becoming very excited.

We were lucky enough to find out that one of our customers, Daniella, in The Netherlands is featuring some of our designs at a craft fair called Kreadoe in Utrecht at the exact time we will be visiting.  Of course we will now be going to the show on the 3rd of November to see her and some of the ladies who have been emailing us from our blog - how exciting!

While we are talking about Daniella from "Hip Handwerk", she shared this photo with us of the most adorable interpretation of our "Clancy the cross-eyed frog" that she has made.  We just had to share it with you all.Img_2423

You may have noticed that we have been a little bit quiet lately.  We were getting ready for the Melbourne Craft & Quilt Show.  We had lots to do trying to get patterns ready.  We visited the show on Thursday and were lucky enough to meet up with Cathy, Kirsty, Jhoanna and Nicole which was so much fun.  Thanks to Lynn from Patchwork on Central Park for promoting our designs on her stall.

Until next time, may the floss be with you, Melly & Rosie x x

Winners & Grinners

We are being punctual today, surprise surprise, and actually drawing our giveaway on time!  Applause everyone, please!?

I have been to the random number generator as 159 names is certainly too many to write out and put into a hat (who would have thought that we would get that many comments?? - we are speechless) and the numbers 104, 18 and 25 came up.  To my counting, forgive me if I am wrong, that makes the lucky winners...  Kelly K, Lucy Locket and Ange Warren.  CONGRATULATIONS!!!  Please email us to let us know which lovely pattern you would like to receive and your postal details.

Thanks to everyone for all of your lovely comments and feedback on the new designs, it really means so much to us.100_1242

Today the mail man came and surprised us with this lovely package from our new friend over at Monda loves.    "Melly & me" loves "Monda loves" so the grins were already in place as I saw the mail man put this parcel in my mail box.  Of course, it goes without saying that the contents were just yummy, yummy, yummy!!!

We just LOVE our new monster friends!!!  Thanks so much Monda - they are adorable and will fit in so well in our Flossie filled homes.

We really hope that we will see lots of you this Thursday at the "Melbourne Craft & Quilt Show"!!  Our new designs will be joining us there at the "Patchwork on Central Park" stand so make sure you come and say hello!

Now off to play with our two new friends and introduce them to the rest of the pack. - Melly

Fun in Nundle

Hi guys! I'm back!!! I have just had the most wonderful time in Nundle with Kerry from cottage on the hill. Kerry kindly invited me to come and teach at her Christmas in July retreat. You have never seen such beautiful country as up there in Nundle. (near Tamworth in NSW) Kerry's home and shop are a paradise waiting for a visit! I was lucky enough to meet beautiful women and share laughter and stitches with all of them! Teaching with me were Janelle Wind and Natalie Ross, both beautifully talented designers with fabulous patterns they have made! I feel like I have met some fabulous friends!

I taught a cute Christmas angel which I have called "Nundle". The pattern is now released under Rosalie Quinlan Designs so keep an eye out at your local patchwork store.Rosie_n_nundle_2007_3

Here is a photo of myself and some of the gorgeous new friends I made this weekend. I look forward to returning to teach at Kerry's in March next year!Nundle

May the floss be with you all!

P.S. The giraffes name is "Mrs Perkins"

Activity galore

When we found out that we would be going to Quilt Market in Houston we decided amongst ourselves that we would use July to concentrate on a few new designs before starting preparations for our big adventure.  As a result there is a bit of design fever going on as we try and come up with some cute new items to add to our catalogue.  The next goal will be to make a bundle of samples for "sample spree" and organise a gorgeous display for our stand. Giraffe

Rosie headed off today to enjoy teaching at a fabulous "Christmas in July" retreat in Nundle - I am very jealous of the crafty weekend she will have but will make sure I use my time at home wisely!!

Dolcetto_2I think I may have a bit of a "Christmas in July" at home myself as the time seems right (after a little prompting - thank-you Emma) to start working on some Christmas designs for Melly & me.  So back to the pencil and paper I go to wait for inspiration. - Melly.

Monster Mash and Etsy Explosion

On Tuesday Rosie and I were on the phone in the early morning, me on my way to run a few errands and her pulling into her driveway.  It was decided in a snap that plans were to be put aside and a visit was in order.  I got to Rosie's house and we went into her studio where she had been drawing some pictures of a cute monster.  We have both been so inspired by all the great monsters we keep seeing out in blog-land (look at monda loves to see hers - just so cute) and have been dying to make some.  Without planning or much talk we were suddenly both sitting down and sketching some cute little monsters.  Next it was time to shop for materials and back we went to give them a try.......100_1172_2 100_1176_2

We both fell in love with our "Splitch" and "Splotch" so much that we decided there was nothing else to do that day but make some more!!!

100_1201_2

So all of these fun little monster flossies as well as some new Mad Mozzies, Little Kittys, Sangsangs and Tweets have made their way to our etsy store!

We had such a fun filled spontaneous day and it was a great distraction from all the "have to's" that continue to pile up.  I hope you all manage to find some time to play this week too! - Melly.

Show and tell - take 2!

We are continually surprised and delighted with all of your lovely emails showing your "Melly & me" finished products.  It gives us a big thrill each time to see how your creations have come together and looking at the different fabric combinations you have chosen.  Because we value your pictures so much we have decided to do a regular "Show and tell" post to showcase some of your fabulous work.  So here is July's selection.....

Dsc_1558Here is my great email buddy, Nicolette's little "Tweet" who was hatched over the weekend.  I just love the way that her cat, Midas is eyeing him off - just too cute!  100

A very cute little couple - "Pocket and Floss" made by Mette in Denmark.  we just love the cuddly pose!

100_1249This fun and bright "Sherbet" by Lara.  Just love this choice of fabrics - and if you look at her blog I think she may have made another version recently. Dsc01323

And a sweet little "Messenger Birdie" by Leanne.  You just have to visit her blog and have a look at her nest attempts!!  They are so cute and almost pieces of art in themselves!

So please, please, please keep the photos coming so that we can keep "show and tell" alive and well!  We hope to have some new show and tell of our own here next post, so see you then!
