Just too darned hard!!!

Rosie and I have been sitting here for a long time going through everyone's gorgeous photos and trying to cut them down to a short list!  Our short list was soooooo long that it was just as difficult to sift through as the initial list!!  There are just too many beautiful photos that it is just so hard to pick only one.  We have picked our initial 3 random winners from the comments list which was a little bit easier as our random number generator took the decision out of our hands!!!  The winners of the 1 pattern each are....

Mary, Linda (Jan25 1:08 pm) and Donna.  Congrats girls and please email us with your postal address and your choice from the 4 new patterns.

Our big winner was both of our first choice and we just love the photo that was put together!!  Here it is and it comes from Marie - isn't it just so cute and it beautifully shows off 6 Melly and me designs - you have been busy Marie!!  Please email us your postal address and we will send you out the first prize package with the 4 new designs as well as our mystery gift which we will show here next post.Giraffevisitafrica

As we said earlier, it was just so hard to pick only one winner.  It almost would have been just as hard to pick 5!  We wanted to add 2 more runner up prizes of 1 pattern each to these gorgeous first attempts by young girls!  We just love seeing the next generation starting off their sewing addiction!!  This Little Kitty is made by Chloe... And this little Baby Sangsang has been made by 11 year old Perri...Pict0024_4

We love your work girls and if you email us your postal details we will send out 1 of our patterns - you can pick any one you would like to try next!

So now we have picked 3 winners and there are still too many photos we love and want to share with you all!  We have decided that with our next post we would like to show a few more of them and ask you all to vote for your favourite and we will come up with another fabulous prize for the winner.

Happy crafting and may the floss be with you! - Melly & Rosie

Celebrate good times!!

Groupshot YAY!!!  The pattern writing is finished and you should all be able to hear our big sigh of relief from where you are!!!  The flossies are excited and celebrating - they get so excited when they find out that they will be reproduced and loved by many!  So as is our way, we like to help them in their celebrating by adding you all to the party with a giveaway!  We have 4 new patterns so it sounds like a good idea to have 4 lucky winners.  3 of these winners will win their choice of pattern out of the four new designs and the 4th lucky person will win all 4 of the new patterns as well as an extra little Melly & me mystery gift!!!!!

All you need to do to be in the running for this giveaway is leave a comment on this post, but there is a twist! To be in the running for the set of 4 patterns & mystery gift you need to leave a comment as well as email us a photo of your favourite "Melly & me" creation made by you!!!  We will be looking through all of these photos and selecting a winner to have their photo featured on the blog and to be the big winner!  Any other comments with or without photos will still be in the running to win the random draw for the 3 remaining patterns.

So get those comments and photos coming and we will select the first prize winner and randomly draw the runners up from your comments next Tuesday!!  Can't wait and thanks so much for helping us celebrate!!

May the floss be with you!!!!

Elephant Stampede

We have had a very productive week and have new things to show you!  Unbeknownst to Melly, I set off to design an elephant last Friday as I thought it was time we had one.  I called Melly excitedly to tell her about my new elephant and she giggled and said "did you get my text message?"  I said, "No" and she said "I think you better go and look at your phone!"  When I retrieved my phone I read an excited text message about a new elephant Melly had designed that same day.  We spent the weekend trying to convince each other that we would sacrifice our design for each other's because we thought it would be silly to bring out two different elephants at the same time.  In the end we decided "Hey, we ARE silly, and silly is good so lets just bring them both out as patterns!!!"  So here they are.  This is Ellie......

Ellie And here is Phoebe.....Phoebe

Of course you will all have to be very diplomatic with your comments! LOL!!

We also have the final photos for "Under the Sea" (formerly Fab Fishy + new friend)

Under_the_sea

And "Acute" who was not intended for patterndom, but due to the fact that we have already taken orders for him, I guess we better do one!Acutepic

Of course this all means a boring week of pattern writing - YUCK!  However, we also get to plan a fun giveaway for later in the week.  Stay tuned.

shhh it's a secret...

Thanks so much for all of the pants love!!  Baby Floss has been asking to wear them each day so they have been a huge success here!  A number of you asked which pattern I used so I thought I better let you all know.  It was "New Look 6689" which was picked due to the nice big "EASY" typed on the front!!  There is also a cute top and hat included with the pattern and although I had grand plans to get stuck into them over the last two days there have been other deadlines looming.

Over the last two days Rosie and I have been working on some "Top Secret" projects that we are not able to show you in this post........but hey, how about a little sneak peek!!Sneak_peek

This mystery project I wish, wish, wish I could share with you.  One of those items you finish and just fall in love with!  But it is to be kept very hush hush as it will be one of the projects in the 2008 Christmas Club being run by Honeysuckle Cottage.  It is such a great program where you get sent one original, never seen before Christmas project in kit form each month of the year. Each project is put together by a different designer and we are lucky enough to be doing 2 of the months; one under "Rosalie Quinlan Designs" by Rosie and this Melly & me project by me. Sneakpeek2

And this project is so top secret I can not even tell you what it is for!!!  The only thing I can say is that it is for a very exciting undertaking that we will be able to reveal later in the year.  We can't wait to announce it when the time comes!!

As much as it kills us we will keep our lips sealed for now!!! - Melly

Something different

Over the last few months I have been constantly admiring all of the beautiful clothes that people have been making for themselves and there little Flossies in blog-land.  I keep saying "I must try that" but I never do as the fear creeps in that it will be a disaster and a waste of precious fabric.  When I was a teenager I had a number of attempts to make myself pants as I have trouble finding any the right length; let me just say that I never wore anything I made and always felt so disappointed.  This may be the reason that I did not touch my sewing machine again for about 11 years!!  So I worried that the same would occur and I had built clothes sewing up to be an unachievable thing in my head.  Crazy!!!

This morning I was home alone with baby Floss since little Floss was having a much anticipated sleep over with his Oma and Opa.  I decided it would be nice to have a girly trip to pick some fabrics, to make up some pants and have a good, old fashion parade!!  So off we headed to get some fabric that Baby Floss selected herself (ok, ok, to tell the truth I gave her a few options to pick from as I just couldn't face making Dora the Explorer pants!!) and rushed home to whip up some pants.Mushroom_pants1

I had sooooo much fun and baby Floss was at my side assisting the whole time.  I have gotten used to a project taking a good part of the day and it was so nice to sew for only 2 hours and have two cute new pairs of pants to show for it.  As you can see Baby Floss thoroughly enjoyed the fashion parade and was not shy to pose for the camera.  I think they call this one "blue Steel" lol!!Orange_pants

I also managed to finish off a few new Freyas over the last few days.  I love these gals so much and they have now been listed over in you know where.

Freyas

I have also been working on a new flossy but am still quite unsure about it.  I seem to have the inability to judge my own work anymore and seem to feel everything is "not quite right" or doesn't have the "IT factor"

Oh well, I will put it aside for a few days while I make some more clothes!!  My next project is to make a cute matching hat for Baby Floss.

I really didn't need a new sewing addiction but I think I will ride with the inspiration as it comes!!

Some new friends!

Acute Meet the newest gang of gorgeous flossie's to grace flossville!!  These fellas have been lovingly called "Acute" after Rosie spent some time in the hospital with a family member recently.  While sitting in the ward she asked the nurse for a piece of paper to doodle design ideas on and the paper that she received had the word "acute" written on it.  These gorgeous little creatures were soon born and are just too much fun!!!

Some of these new hatchlings have made their way for sale in the esty store.

Hope they bring a smile to your face today!!

Happy New Year!!

We're back and ready to get stuck into a crafty 2008!  We have had a beautiful break, with some much needed time away at the beach and plenty of that "just because" sewing.

Melly has been working on lots of new flossies that are now for sale in our fabulous re-opened etsy store.  Although our full time occupation is designing patterns, we just really enjoy making flossies for fun and you can only keep so many!  Here are 3 new Magoos....Picture_185

A few more Dilberts, (well, 2 Dilberts and one Daisy)....Picture_167

..and four more Mrs Perkins' whose skins you might recognise from a previous post....Picture_158

All of these guys plus a few of their friends can be found for sale by clicking on this link.

Also while we were laying by the waves the postman brought lots of late mail.  One exciting package held the most gorgeous little owl that we won on a giveaway at LucyKate Crafts.  If you haven't checked out her blog make sure you do, it is a real treat and every thing she makes is completely adorable.  This little fella is going to fit right in with all of his new friends!! Picture_190

Rosie has also been doing tons of new designing and creating, but we can't show you any of this deliciousness as she is still deciding (with much excitement) if it will all be a part of a "Rosalie Quinlan Designs" book (her first)!!

We really enjoyed our break but we are also really looking forward to what the new year will hold.  We spent a couple of days dreaming and scheming as well as getting plenty of crafty energy from visiting Red Hill Market and some fantastic crafty shops.  It has filled us with an excitement and we look forward to sharing our journey with you this year.

May the floss be with you,

Melly & Rosie.
