Peeks and celebrations
Thank you all for all the amazing comments on my scrappy cabin quilt. I am glad you all love it as much as I do. I really enjoyed working on my quilt last weekend and I am staring to enjoy more and more the memories that are sewn into this quilt. As I make each block I think about the fabrics I am using and remember what was made out of it. Some are from original designs, some are from ready mades, some are from my lovely scrappy swap partners and some from my beautiful sister Rosie. They all hold meaning, memories and they all make me smile!! I cant wait to find another weekend to devote to the 3rd quarter but it may be a little while still. At least that gives me time to create lots of new scraps and memories.
This week I have been working on one of my projects for the "Girls Day Out" retreat that I will be one of the guest designers at in May. This retreat will be my first ever and I have to admit that I am really nervous, scared and excited all at the same time. I am really lucky as Rosie will also be there wearing her "Rosalie Quinlan Designs" hat so I will have her for support and much needed guidance. The retreat is put on by "Country Thyme Patchwork" in Mooroopna and will be help on the 24th & 25th of May. I need to come up with original designs for the weekend and I have to admit this has been stretching me. Each project that I decide to design for the retreat needs to consist of a large part of hand sewing, whether it be stitchery or hand applique, so that the girls will be able to work on or complete the hand sewing section on the day. This has proved a bit scary for me as hand sewing is not something that I have yet designed in. It has been great to feel stretched and have to think outside of my box. I have completed one designs and have 2 - 3 more to come up with over the next few weeks. As these projects need to be original and new on the weekend I am not able to show you my finished project but I thought a little sneak peek couldn't hurt!!
Tomorrow is a special day in our household with my Little Floss turning a big 5 years old!! It seems like just yesterday that he was still a little baby with all of those delicious rolls and chubby cheeks. How does it go so quickly??? We are off for a fun day tomorrow with a trip on Puffing Billy which is a historical steam train that runs through the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria. Little Floss is so train obsessed at the moment and I am sure it will be an amazing unforgettable day.

Melly the fabrics on the sneak peek look 'very interesting' lol I do hope that we get to 'see' after the retreat or will these newby's be the next lot of patterns? Would love to be able to go, but alas ..not possible.

Congratulations Little Floss!! BIG 5!! Time to celebrate. Trains, definitely an Aquarius addiction! I love them too an my brother is a train-addict since he was very young. He now is chairman of the board of a museum for narrow-gauge steam trains! So Little Floss, have fun on Puffing Billy and hold on to your love for trains!

Happy Birthday. Five is such a milestone year, particularly for your first.
My almost two year old is so into trains (toot toots) right now. He has played with his wooden Thomas set for days on end.

Happy Birthday wishes to Floss. Turning 5 is a big deal. I know, because two grandsons just turned 5 and we had such good times celebrating. They are so full of fun and make my heart almost burst with joy. I hope the train experience is totally fun for both of you.

The new designs are lovely. I recently completed a Dilbert, a Mrs Perkins, and a Mr Magoo, for my grandson. I would love to win a copy of the new patterns, and make them also. Cheers, Lyn
