Space, glorious space!
It is done!! It is finished!!! I have my studio!!!!
It was a fantastic weekend sorting out all of my sewing gear from it's various homes around my house and placing it all into its new home!! I LOVE my new studio and am already feeling completely at home in it! It has a really peaceful feel and I think it has become my favourite room in the house!! (OK, maybe I am going a bit far, but do you get the idea that I LOVE MY NEW STUDIO!!!)
On Sunday I did my first sewing in the new studio as I needed to make a couple of new cushions to brighten up the room...
They were made just in time for the photo shoot to share with you before the room becomes an organised mess!
The cushions are for on the new sofa bed that is now my stuffing/hand sewing home. Of course this will have to double as an actual bed when guests come to stay - there had to be a catch, didn't there??!!
The walls in this room were already pink and aqua as it was, in a past life, Baby Floss' nursery. I love pink and aqua together so much so I decided to stick with it and work with it! A pink sofa is always fun - thanks Ikea!
And off to the more practical side of the room..... here is my new best friend in the form of shelving that Rosie told me I just had to get. She was right - it is perfect for holding everything!!
And it is conveniently located next to my desk so that I can grab things as they are needed! It is such a smooth way to work compared to going from this room to that to grab a scrap of fabric etc and I actually know where everything is - woo-hoo!
And then the corner that I am not too keen on. Handy but ugly.... yes, that is an old TV set sitting in the corner. I will admit I don't mind the odd Oprah fix while stuffing. It kind of ruins the feel of the room but hey, it is in there so I thought I ought to show i
t!
As you can see I do have a couple of prints gracing my wall but I am in need of more wall decoration. I would like this wall to be full of inspiration to look at as I work....I will need to work on that. I have a birthday coming up so I think I know what to ask for. Don't you wish you could buy Etsy gift vouchers???
Hope you have enjoyed the tour of my new studio - it may be the last glimpse of it in such a lovely state!! Now I need to get back into it and do some more work............ =) =) =)
Melly.

Oh My! How pretty! Although, entirely too clean LOL!

Yay for you! I can't believe you went so long without a sewing room! Maybe you could replace the telly with a stereo and listen to inspiring music while you stuff/sew/enjoy. And you MUST set up an inspiration wall, no sewing room is complete without one!!
Have lots of fun, Fer :o)

What a wonderful space you have to get creative in! I am so jealous. I sew out of a converted end of our formal lounge room. Not so formal with me messing up one end of it! Ha! It looks fantastic - Jen

Is that an Activa on your table? I've been test-driving a new one at school, haven't let the kids loose on it yet - and I'm thinking about getting one for myself too. The one at school is a 230 and may just be a step more than I need? How do you find yours?

I went from a home with a seperate studio space to a home without... so i'm very jealous of you! Your space is already looking like a wonderful studio to be working in!

Love your new studio Melly. I really like the storage shelves...a place for everything.

It looks so new fresh and exciting! Well done.
How are the flossies about losing their room? Hopefully the excitement of having toys in their room has distracted them!
You might want to consider a big cork board (covered in some yummy fabric of course) to pin designs, picutres etc onto. Put it on the wall behind your machine.
Then maybe a bigger picture (or a quilt???) above the sofa.
As for the TV.... I'm sure you will find a way to make it look nicer, whether it's a lovely corner cupboard with doors, or something else.

To think of all those wonderful creations that will be designed and sewn in this beautiful studio! I love it!!!

If the sight of the TV gets on your nerves you could always make a cover for it, like the ones for sewing machines!
The room looks wonderful and is sure to get your creative juices flowing!

It's soooooooooooo tidy! (There's jealousy there mixed in with the amazement!) I do have my own space, but I'm working hard to get it organised at the moment!

So lovely!! Good to read that your studio is both inspirational and peaceful too :-)

It is beautiful, Melly! Love the soft colors and arrangements! Funny, I was posting about my craft room too...though my room is a shy, humble creature compared to yours, which is a REAL studio! Enjoy your creative space. ((HUGS))

It looks lovely and is well deserved. Wonder how long it will stay that tidy....?and with a sofa bed in there you'll never have to leave now!

Hey Melly! Every Aussie boy needs a shed and every Aussie girl needs a sewing room! Yay!! Tho mine never looks that tidy!!! My mother says the 'tidy gene' missed a generation from her to me! Tee! Hee! Hee! What about hiding the TV behind a screen? I've seen some with cork tiles on them so you can pin photos from workshops or just fun, funky photos on them. I have two corkboards for inspiration - one in the sewing room and one in the office. Both have photos of craft, friends, family, wish list items as well as ribbons, lace, pretty buttons ... very nice to daydream to! Happy Creating!! Bear Hugs! KRIS (Tag Along Teddies)
