Children's Day.
May the 5th is a special day and a national holiday in South Korea. It is officially "Children's Day" and it is a day that the nation stops to enjoy and celebrate their children. A day that the children look forward to much as they would Christmas in Australia with lots of gifts, special food and celebration. I hope one day we will be able to be a part of a Children's Day celebration in Korea! We also try to celebrate this special day with an annual picnic and celebration in the park on the closest weekend. A large number of Aussie-Korean families come together and enjoy great food, company and play. We also always take the opportunity to get the children dressed up in their National Costume, the Hanbok, and get some gorgeous photos.
It did prove difficult this year to get a good photo of the two flossies together as they insisted on pulling faces and poking tongues but I think this one is the best of the bunch. I just love the Korean traditional costume - it is so colourful and beautiful and when you see all the children together in all their different coloured costumes it is breath taking!
On the crafting side of life, I did bind that quilt finally, yippee, and since then I have been working on some more top secret projects which I cant share with you just yet.
Speaking of the top secret projects I can now share with you what some of them are for! "The Fat Quarters" in the UK is going to be running "The Fat Quarters Club 2008" for the second half of this year. There will be 6 never seen before projects all designed by either myself "Melly & me" or Rosie under "Rosalie Quinlan Designs" and they will be sent to you all kitted up once a month. The projects are a surprise and there will also be a little gift in time for Christmas from The Fat Quarters. So if you want to know more or want to sign up then please visit here! It will be a lot of fun! Melly.

Your children are just SO gorgeous - look at those sweet smiles! And I adore their costumes. Congratulations on the Fat Quarters Club - sounds very exciting!

Hey Melly! Your Flossies look like little angels, but I bet they keep you on your toes!! I think a big group of little ones dressed in the traditional costume would look like a swarm of pretty butterflies! And it sounds like you've finished your 'contemplation' to get back into designing/stitching mode - Yay, you!! Look forward to future surprises! Bear Hugs! KRIS (Tag Along Teddies)
