I actually made something this week! That may sound very insignificant and like it should be an ordinary part of the life of a pattern designer, but for me this was one small step that felt like a giant leap!
This week I have feel the desire to create returning and I cant tell you how excited this makes me. I might have gotten a little too excited after I completed something, that I ran head first into a failure, but never the less it is still a step forward. The mind has started dreaming again and that gives me that excited feeling in the pit of my tummy, and I knew creativity will follow eventually.
The little step that felt like a leap was simply making a new "Raspberry Ripple" sample that had been promised to a quilt shop. I was making this out of "Where the Wind Blows" and it was the perfect way to get back into sewing by sewing something I knew how to make blind folded and to make it out of fabric that make me happy!
So despite wanting to keep it, this bag has found it's way to a new home!
Another thing that has been inspiring me greatly as I wander around my home is this stunning antique dresden plate quilt that I purchased when I was in Houston. I was feeling awfully hesitant to buy it when I was there, but I can't tell you how glad I am that I indulged. This gorgeous quilt is now the feature on my family room wall and it just brings me so much joy each day.
The school year has ended and summer holidays have begun - Christmas is just around the corner, despite this being awfully hard to believe. Time to enjoy my kiddies and hopefully find a lot of inspiration in the process. Time to try and get my festive on!
I hope you are all having a wonderful time getting ready for your celebrations in your corner of the world.
Oh, and some exciting news is that "Little Menagerie" has now hit stores down-under!! So be on the lookout at your local.
