Activity galore

When we found out that we would be going to Quilt Market in Houston we decided amongst ourselves that we would use July to concentrate on a few new designs before starting preparations for our big adventure.  As a result there is a bit of design fever going on as we try and come up with some cute new items to add to our catalogue.  The next goal will be to make a bundle of samples for "sample spree" and organise a gorgeous display for our stand. Giraffe

Rosie headed off today to enjoy teaching at a fabulous "Christmas in July" retreat in Nundle - I am very jealous of the crafty weekend she will have but will make sure I use my time at home wisely!!

Dolcetto_2I think I may have a bit of a "Christmas in July" at home myself as the time seems right (after a little prompting - thank-you Emma) to start working on some Christmas designs for Melly & me.  So back to the pencil and paper I go to wait for inspiration. - Melly.

Nerves turn to productivity

We have had a busy weekend, furiously sewing together a few new designs. I have wanted to make a bee and a lady bug for ages and this was a good opportunity (more designs needed for Houston). After spending a whole week with no inspiration, two new designs just seemed to make themselves! I love being in the zone. I'm sure that some of you can relate to this. First you feel incapable of creating anything new- EVER and then all of a sudden the light-bulb moment and then new designs. This is always the process for me. Here is Buzby and baby bee100_1092......

And her100_1093e is Lottie and Little Lady....

Here is a close up of "Baby Bee and Little Lady" who agreed to leave the warmth of their satchels for our photo shoot..100_1094

Melly has also been a busy bee making her "Mad Cow".  She made one for the pattern...

  100_1087

And two more for our Etsy Store.....100_1089

Of course all of this activity means we have 3 new patterns to write (sigh).  We will do another pattern giveaway when they are completed.

I hope everyone got their fabric scrap packages posted (I promise I will send mine tomorrow!!) and we cant wait to show you our mail when it arrives.

May the Floss be with you! - Rosie

Show and Tell.

Thank you so much to every one who emails us beautiful pictures of our designs made up.  We love seeing the different ways you create our designs and get so much joy from hearing your feedback.  We thought we would share some "show and tell" with you all!

This picture of "My Dolly - Lollie" came in from Heather in Canada.  We love it!Lollie_heather_5

This "Messenger Birdie" made by Jacky as a gift for her friend - just so cute and the tag finishes the birdie off perfectly!Messenger_jacky_4

And finally this version of our "Sunshine" bag made by Cathy.  She couldn't find enough fabric in the house so decided to use some souvenir tea towels instead - what a cute and clever idea!Sunshine_cathy_4

We really do love you sharing these photos and your thoughts with us, so please - keep them coming!!

Identity crisis, new patterns & name winner

We have had a busy couple of days, heads down writing new patterns for release.  So we are really excited to be able to announce 6 new patterns that are now available in the Melly & me range!!  One of the new patterns has a funny story attached that I just have to share with you all.   Hooty_tweet_email_3

Some time ago I posted a picture of a new little creature along with a post and gave no introduction.  In my head I had made a bird that I liked to call "Tweet" but within days there were comments and emails from people about how much they loved the owl!!  My poor Tweet developed a real identity crisis!  Over the next few weeks I decided to give "Tweet" a bit of a facelift to make him look more owlish, renamed him "Hooty", and hoped that he would feel like the owl everyone thought he was.  After that I made him a few friends and took them along to the Hills Festival.  Would you believe that everyone who commented on them said "I love the little birds"!!!!!  Poor little fellas, they could never win.  In the end I decided to make two different designs for the pattern and called them "Hooty & Tweet".  I will let you decide which is which as by now I am so confused!!M021_email

Rosie has released this gorgeous "Messenger Birdies" pattern.  The birdies have their own crocheted nests and are perfect gifts with a little message tag tied around their necks - just too cute!

Billie_email

And this stunning new quilt called "Billie"!  She has made this up in a few different colour ways and it is so yummy.

As well as these 3 new patterns we have also released the already featured "Silly Bunny & Silly Bunny", "Clancy & Clatabel" and drum roll........"Freya"!!! Untitled23_3

Yes, Caitlin was the winner of the naming contest and I will email you soon to find out where to send your pattern.  Your explanation of the name just fit her perfectly and I am so happy with this name.  It was a tough choice as a few of the names were really standing out and I want to thank you all so much for your suggestions.

Don't forget that the giveaway for Rosie's Silly Bunny and the 2 Silly Bunny patterns (in prior post) is still running and anyone who leaves a comment on either post before next Tuesday 1st May will be put in the draw.  Good luck!! - Melly.

Working up a storm & another giveaway.

I have just flown back from a wonderful weekend of teaching in Hobart with my good friend Leanne.  We were asked by Derdre and Leonie of The Quilted Crow to come and teach at their autumn gathering.  We had such a beautiful time meeting fantastic ladies and staying in the most wonderful accommodation.  Derdre and Leonie spoiled us rotten!  If you are ever in Hobart you just have to visit them.

Derdre's daughter Casey makes the most amazing softies - she gave me one and I am thrilled!  Somehow we need to get her onto etsy so you can all enjoy her work.  Here he is, I have named him "Sebatstian"  I adore him!!  - Rosie100_0914

After a bit of a creative hiatus, I have my mo-jo back!  I would love to introduce you to today's new creation - my new funky fairy.  I may have my sewing mo-jo back but my naming brain just isn't working!  I would love it if you could help me with a name, please??!!  Sounds like a good excuse for a giveaway, so please leave your name ideas and the winner will be sent out a free copy of the pattern - Melly.100_0930

I realised I have been a bit silly because I have sold all my silly bunnies and I haven't written a pattern yet!!! By popular request I have decided to make my beloved silly bunnies into a pattern.

100_0923

So... I have spent the last two days making five of them. Two for the pattern sample, two for sale on etsy and one for a give-away.  Anyone who leaves a comment on todays post will be in the running to win this cutie-pie.100_0917

Two runners up will recieve the new "Silly Bunny" pattern.  People who also leave a name suggestion for Melly's funky fairy will be in the running to win these giveaways.  We will draw the winners next Tuesday - Rosie.

P.S  Melly and I are toying with the idea of going to the Fall Quilt Market in Houston, Texas with our patterns.  How exciting!!

As a result we are very excited to have released these three new patterns (Black Forest, Baby Floss and Wally & Wristy) this week, with a few more soon to follow!!Blog_new_patterns_2

To celebrate the new patterns' release, we are again having a giveaway!  We love giveaways!!  We have made up an extra wallet (same as pictured in the photo) that is just begging to be filled and put to good use.  To be in the running please leave us a comment and we will draw a name out this Thursday 12th April to be the lucky new owner.  We will also draw one runner up to win their choice of one of the three new patterns.  Good luck!

Enjoy today, and may the floss be with you! - Melly & Rosie
